Accessibility IS the product. Eira OS was built by a person with disabilities — not a corporation, not a focus group, not a committee. Real experience. Real frustration. Real solutions. This is not a checkbox. This is the entire point.

Our Commitment

Eira OS exists because accessible technology should not be an afterthought. It should not be a feature added late in development to satisfy a legal requirement. It should not be a "compatible mode" or a "special setting." It should be the foundation.

Every decision in Eira OS — from hardware to software to voice to packaging — starts with one question: Can a person with significant disabilities use this without help? If the answer is no, we redesign it. We do not move on.

Our founder lives with disabilities. This is personal. When we say accessibility is built in, not bolted on, we mean it literally. The person who built it needed it to work for himself first.

Voice-First Interface

Eira OS is voice-first. You talk to it. It talks back. That is the entire interaction model.

  • No typing required. If you cannot use a keyboard, you are not excluded. You are the primary user.
  • No touchscreen required. If you cannot reach or operate a touchscreen, you are not excluded. You are the primary user.
  • No mouse required. If you cannot operate a pointing device, you are not excluded. You are the primary user.
  • No app to install. Eira OS is a dedicated device. You plug it in. You speak. It works.

If your hands do not work the way other people's hands work, Eira OS was built for you first. Everyone else is welcome, but you were the design target.

No Screens Required

Eira OS does not require a screen to operate. The entire system is usable through voice alone — speaking and listening. No visual interface is required to:

  • Set and receive daily reminders
  • Manage your personal calendar
  • Make and receive audio and video calls
  • Send and listen to voice email
  • Use the companion conversation feature
  • Receive home and personal awareness alerts
  • Use wellness sensing features
  • Access away mode and sudden activity alerts

For Members who are blind, have low vision, or cannot look at screens, Eira OS is fully functional without any visual interaction. The Member Dashboard (see below) is available for family members or caregivers who wish to check in remotely, but the Member never needs to use it.

Custom Voice and Speech Options

Eira OS lets you choose how it speaks and how it listens.

  • Choose your voice: Male or female. Polite and gentle, or direct and motivating. You decide what works for you.
  • Custom voice cloning: With consent, Eira can speak in a voice that feels like home — a loved one's voice, a family member's voice, a voice that brings comfort. Voice samples and cloned voice models are processed and stored exclusively on your local Eira OS device. No voice data ever leaves your device.
  • Name it yourself: Do not want to call it Eira? Name it whatever you want — a family name, a nickname, something that makes you smile. It is yours.
  • Adjustable speech rate: If Eira speaks too fast or too slow for your preference, the rate can be adjusted to your comfort.

Hearing Accessibility

For Members who are deaf or hard of hearing, Eira OS supports alternative interaction paths:

  • Visual alerts: Alerts and reminders can be delivered visually through connected displays or indicator lights when a screen is available.
  • Voice email with text option: Voice email can be transcribed to text for Members who prefer reading.
  • Video calls with captioning support: Video calls support captioning through connected devices that provide it.
  • Customizable alert volume and tone: Alert sounds can be adjusted to frequencies and volumes that work for your hearing.

If you cannot hear Eira at all, the Member Dashboard and connected visual outputs provide an alternative path to the same information. No Member is left without access to their own daily living support.

Cognitive Accessibility

Many accessibility tools fail people with cognitive disabilities because they replace one complicated interface with another. Eira OS does not.

Eira OS is a conversation, not a menu.

  • You do not navigate dropdown menus. You ask.
  • You do not find the right settings page. You say what you want changed.
  • You do not remember where a feature lives. You ask Eira to do it.
  • You do not read documentation. You ask Eira how to do something and it tells you.

For Members with memory support needs, cognitive fatigue, or conditions that make complex interfaces exhausting, Eira OS removes the interface entirely. There is nothing to learn. There is nothing to remember. There is only the conversation.

Memory Support

Eira OS provides built-in memory support for daily living:

  • Daily reminders: Medications, appointments, routines. Eira keeps you on track without you needing to remember to check.
  • Personal calendar: Eira knows your schedule and reminds you of what is coming. You do not need to open a calendar app.
  • Companion conversation: Eira remembers your preferences, your routines, and what matters to you. You do not repeat yourself.
  • Contextual awareness: Eira can remind you of things in context — "You said you wanted to call your sister today" — without you needing to track that yourself.

This is not a wellness device. It is not a medical device. It is a daily living companion that helps with the things you want to remember, the routines you want to keep, and the independence you want to maintain.

Physical Accessibility

Eira OS is designed for Members who cannot operate traditional technology:

  • Plug in only. No installation. No setup wizard. No configuration screens. You plug the device in. It is ready.
  • No physical buttons required. Every function is accessible by voice.
  • No fine motor control required. If you cannot press buttons, turn dials, or operate small controls, you are not limited. You speak.
  • No physical positioning required. Eira OS does not need to be held, aimed, or pointed at anything. Set it on a table or shelf. Speak from wherever you are.
  • Personal onboarding. A real person helps you get started. You do not figure it out alone.

Member Dashboard Accessibility

The Member Dashboard is the web interface used by family members, caregivers, and authorized contacts to check in on a Member's Eira OS device remotely. It is not required for the Member to use.

The Member Dashboard is built to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards (see below). It provides:

  • Keyboard-navigable interface for users who cannot use a mouse
  • Screen reader compatibility with proper ARIA labels and semantic HTML
  • Sufficient color contrast for users with low vision
  • Text resizing without loss of functionality
  • No time-based media that cannot be paused or controlled
  • Clear, plain language throughout

The Member Dashboard is the only part of Eira OS that uses a screen. The Member's actual daily living experience is entirely voice-based.

WCAG 2.1 Level AA Conformance

The Eira OS website and Member Dashboard strive to conform to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. This means:

  • Perceivable: Information and user interface components must be presentable to users in ways they can perceive.
  • Operable: User interface components and navigation must be operable.
  • Understandable: Information and the operation of user interface must be understandable.
  • Robust: Content must be robust enough to be interpreted reliably by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies.

We test our web interface with screen readers, keyboard navigation, and contrast analysis tools. We do not claim full conformance because accessibility is a practice, not a destination — but we commit to meeting AA and fixing issues as they are identified.

The core Eira OS product — the voice interface — exceeds WCAG by design, because it does not rely on visual, motor, or traditional digital interaction at all.

Feedback Mechanism

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on our website, in the Member Dashboard, or in the Eira OS product itself, we want to know. Accessibility is our core mission. A barrier you find is a barrier we failed to eliminate — and we take that personally.

When you contact us about an accessibility issue:

  • We will respond within 5 business days
  • We will acknowledge the specific barrier you identified
  • We will provide a timeline for resolution or an explanation if resolution requires more time
  • We will follow up when the issue is resolved

You do not need to reference a specific law, guideline, or standard. Just tell us what you could not do, and we will fix it.

Third-Party Compatibility

Eira OS is designed to work with your existing technology, not against it. We commit to compatibility with assistive technologies:

  • Screen readers: The Member Dashboard is tested with major screen readers including NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver.
  • Switch devices: For Members who use switch access hardware, the Member Dashboard supports keyboard and switch-based navigation.
  • Hearing aids and cochlear implants: Eira OS voice output works with connected hearing devices via standard audio output.
  • Smart home integration: Eira OS can coordinate with compatible smart home devices to extend accessibility (visual alert indicators, smart lights, etc.).

We do not bundle third-party tracking, advertising, or analytics on our website — so there are no third-party widgets that introduce accessibility barriers.

If a specific third-party assistive technology does not work with Eira OS or our website, contact us. We will work with you to resolve it.

Ongoing Commitment

Accessibility is not a one-time achievement. It is an ongoing practice. We commit to:

  • Continuous testing: We test new features with real users who have disabilities before release.
  • Accessibility in development: Every feature is evaluated for accessibility impact before it is built, not after.
  • Listening to Members: Member feedback about accessibility barriers is treated as a priority, not a suggestion.
  • Updating this statement: We will update this statement as our product evolves and as accessibility standards advance.
  • Never settling: We will never claim our work is done. There is always a Member we have not fully served yet.

The bottom line: Eira OS was built by a person who needed it. Accessibility is not our compliance department. It is our product. If you find something we got wrong, tell us — and we will fix it, because we built this for you.
